JORVIK Viking Centre first opened its doors on April 14th 1984. This year marks the 30th year since that day and to celebrate we decided to look back at the highlights of JORVIK, and the many people who have walked through its doors.

JORVIK Celebrates 30 years of its Viking Centre

Since opening, we have welcomed over 17 million people into the recreated streets of Viking York, and seen 2 major redevelopments of the Viking Centre, bringing new technology and displays to the public, and allowing them to discover even more about the Vikings!

But our birthday would mean nothing without the guests of honour: all of you! It’s because of the 17 million explorers we’ve welcomed that we have been able to celebrate 30 years of being the most interactive and well-known Viking Experience world-wide! So we want to hear from you; what are your memories of JORVIK? Maybe you came here when you were younger? Perhaps you visit every year? You might have even joined in our famous JORVIK Viking Festival!
