The Creation of
Campaign Canute

Campaign Canute was born out of the devastation to JORVIK Viking Centre following the flooding that affected in York at Christmas 2015, since then we have raised over £1.5 million to re-imagine JORVIK.

Your donation to #CampaignCanute will help York Archaeological Trust, an independent, educational charity and the owners and operators of JORVIK, to continue its charitable mission and create a new interactive, heritage experience at the home of the Vikings in York for generations to come!

Who’s Already Supporting Campaign Canute?

The simple answer is, people all over the world are supporting JORVIK’s fundraising effort. Since flooding in December we have been overwhelmed with the support we have received from businesses and individuals in the city of York, Yorkshire and across the UK, as well as donations from as far afield as Australia and the US.

We’ve also been fortunate enough to have the support of some very well known individuals from the Academic, TV and Literature worlds; including historian, Dan Snow, actor and all round explorer, Brian Blessed and every child’s favourite Horrible Historian, author Terry Deary. All of whom are Campaign Canute Ambassadors.
