Science

  • Forming questions about the world around them; using different types of scientific enquiries, including practical activities, and begin to recognise ways in which they might answer scientific questions; comparing objects, materials and living things and decide how to sort and group them, as well as observing changes over time and beginning to notice patterns and relationships (KS1)
  • Asking relevant questions and using different types of scientific enquiries to answer them; setting up simple practical enquiries and making observations; taking measurements with a range of equipment and recording findings using simple scientific language, drawings, labelled diagrams, keys and grids; using results to draw simple conclusions and using scientific evidence to answer questions or to support their findings (KS2)
  • Recognising the parts of human bodies, animal bodies and plants; observing and understanding the changing seasons; the features of different habitats and micro-habitats; common types of material, e.g. metal, wood, brick etc. and comparing and describing their properties (KS1)
