Discover the impact the foundation of the early Christian church had on Viking society and the beautiful objects inspired by the old and new religion at this special exhibition.

Aptly located in the Undercroft of York Minster, home to fine examples of Early Medieval Christian art, including the Horn of Ulf and the York Gospels, this exhibition will uncover the cultural factors at play as the Viking citizens of York got to grips with a new religion whilst trying to keep hold of the beliefs from the old faith.

With artefacts from the JORVIK collection on display for the first time since December 2015 in the treasury at York Minster and Viking hosts on hand to guide you through this critical moment in our history, this exhibition is a unique experience in York this summer.
